WHO is deploying emergency medical teams to treat injured people, support health workers and maintain essential health services immediately following the earthquake and into the future.
Aftershocks, freezing conditions, the destruction of roads and power supplies are increasing the health risks to people in the aftermath of the disaster.
Urgent funding is needed to dispatch additional medical team, hospital supplies, keep ambulances running and provide staffing to care for people in these traumatic circumstances.
