It’s begun to seem like an endless story. The most recent state to close its abortion clinics’ doors is Iowa, where six weeks has just been set as the upper time limit for getting an abortion. While next door to Iowa, Minnesota is preparing for an influx of Iowan patients needing abortions.
Arizona’s anti-abortion zealots want to protect an 1864 abortion ban and have filed a lawsuit to try to keep people from voting on the ballot initiative to overturn it, because they know they would lose the vote. And so it goes on…and on…and on…
However, every state that has not yet done so may hold a state-level vote on access to abortion by November 2024. Across the country, including in “conservative” states, every proposed ballot measure to restore or expand abortion access at state level has gathered enough signatures to make it onto November’s ballots.
