TRAPPED: A film about health care providers in Southern USA

On March 2, 2016, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Whole Woman’s Health v. Hellerstedt (formerly Cole). Seen by many as a case that could have a monumental impact on the right to choose, the case stems from a challenge to a Texas TRAP law, HB2. TRAP laws (or Targeted Regulations of Abortion Providers) are spreading across the USA. Faced with increased costs of compliance and the alarming fear of violence from protestors, the stakes for the women and men on the frontlines couldn’t be any higher.TRAPPED, by Independent Lens, tells the story of health care providers in the states of Texas, Mississippi, and Alabama who are struggling to comply with controversial new TRAP laws. It follows the clinic workers and lawyers – including those who took their case to the Supreme Court in March – who are fighting to keep abortion safe and legal for millions of American women. The Supreme Court’s decision is expected later in June.WATCH THE PBS PREVIEW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lXp3TAQGAI4
