This article, based on abortion clinic provision in Great Britain, would be useful for teaching future abortion clinic staff. It describes a visit by a young woman who has an unwanted pregnancy to a community-based clinic who is seeking a referral for an abortion. It outlines what the healthcare provider should ask and say in order to facilitate the referral for an abortion, including what will happen at the clinic, the abortion methods available and which she would prefer, and whether she wants to discuss post-abortion contraception at that stage.
