Today we are writing with a request to join our appeal for the immediate resumption of the work of the Sejm Extraordinary Committee to consider draft laws concerning the right to abortion!
The commission met for the last time in July 2024, which is about to mark two years since nothing happened regarding the decriminalization law! Not long ago, when asked in a television program when she would convene a meeting of the commission, the chairwoman of the commission replied that it would be in April. Meanwhile, it’s May!
Yes, we know that Nawrocki will veto, but when the government cares about something very much, look: the law on cryptocurrencies, it can bang its head against the wall of the presidential palace, exert pressure, correct, etc. Meanwhile, after one lost vote, abortion was put on the shelf “it won’t work” and the hands of the issue, which is inconvenient for the coalition, were washed.
Unfortunately, this is a recipe for losing elections, because the current ruling coalition is taking away its own arguments. Nawrocki does not veto because he has nothing. We were used in the election campaign, where “women’s rights” were changed in all cases. Therefore, let us recall this promise and demand the resumption of work!

The Committee last met in July 2024, which means it will soon be two years since nothing happened regarding the decriminalization bill! The Committee chairwoman, recently asked on a television program when she would convene the Committee meeting, replied that it would be in April. Yet, it’s May!

Coalition! Prime Minister! Members of Parliament from the Special Committee! If you do nothing now, if you do not begin your efforts, if you do not begin working on the Committee and doing what it was established for, if you do not even try to keep your campaign promises to women, you will lose the election, not because you have not legalized abortion, but because you have not even tried to change the law on this issue, not one iota.
And the Commission will remain an extraordinary symbol not only of impotence, but also of short-lived enthusiasm and unfulfilled promises, which have remained as empty as the Commission’s meeting schedule.
Get to work while there’s still time! Because in a year and a half, you’ll only have yourselves to blame!
