This initiative of the Red Juridica of Clacai addresses the frameworks, care, methods and regulation of abortions in advanced stages of pregnancy, through the work of an interdisciplinary team of members of Clacai and allied organizations. Their aims are to:
– Deepen understanding of the stereotypes, stigma and challenges associated with late-term abortions from a broad perspective that includes legal, medical, bioethical and evidence-based considerations,
– Create and disseminate documents that address the prejudices and specific issues surrounding these abortions, in order to educate and raise awareness among health professionals, activists and the general public, and
– Stimulate the exchange of knowledge and experiences among those who provide these services at national and regional levels, promoting interdisciplinary dialogue through webinars and discussion forums.
With these objectives, these publications seeks to positively influence public perception and improve practices related to abortion in later stages of pregnancy, ensuring that policies and clinical practices are informed and aligned with the highest standards of human rights and medical care.
The project is coordinated by Agustina Ramón Michel (Clacai Legal Network), Guillermo Ortiz (Ipas LAC) and Helena Paro (Federal University of Uberlandia and the Medical Network for the Right to Decide of Brazil), with the assistance of Dana Repka (Clacai Legal Network).
