RUTGERS NL – How Covid-19 prevention measures have affected young people’s sexual and reproductive health in Ghana, Indonesia, Kenya, Nepal, Uganda and Zimbabwe

This international study among almost 3,000 young people across four African and two Asian countries shows that Covid-19 has had a huge impact on young people’s lives and that all the negative impacts are interlinked. It found that existing inequalities are laid bare and exacerbated by the pandemic.

The study was condnucted by a mobile web survey and qualitative data collection. It looked at schooling, income, well-being; dating, relationships, sexual activity and transactional sex; access to sexual and reproductive health information and services; gender-based violence; and effects on early marriage. The final chapter of conclusions and recommendations (pp.153-161) are comprehensive and highly relevant. An excellent research study and report.
