The Abortion Support Network (ASN), a UK-based charity providing financial assistance, practical information and accommodation to those living in countries with restrictive abortion laws, announced today that they have expanded their services to people resident in Malta and Gibraltar. Anyone in those countries will be able to ring the ASN helpline, visit their website or send an email and receive confidential, non-judgmental information about the least expensive way to arrange abortion, travel to England, Netherlands or Spain to clinics that ASN works with, accommodation where possible, and receive financial help towards the costs of travel and paying privately to access a safe, legal abortion where necessary.
In addition to practical and financial support for those travelling, ASN will provide funding for people in Malta and Gibraltar who want to have a telephone consultation or counselling session with the British Pregnancy Advisory Service (BPAS).
Abortion is completely against the law in Malta. Gibraltar allows abortion only to save a woman’s life.
