For years Action Canada has been pushing for universal coverage of contraception. This historic victory is the result of countless policy briefs, panels and parliamentary meetings to push for progress. We are thrilled to celebrate this win alongside a broad coalition of partners who played critical roles in the movement. See the full press release.
The legislation, now set to become a law, will eliminate financial barriers to contraception for 9 million Canadians of reproductive age across the country. But it is not over: we urge provinces to follow BC’s lead and commit to implementing Pharmacare at the provincial level!
Updates from Health Canada
Two new resources are now available on the Health Canada (national government) website: 1) an exclusive area with information about abortion, such as access and support, funding programs, and specifics about provinces and territories, 2) dedicated pages with resources about accessing gender-affirming care, condoms, sexually transmitted infections information, fertility treatment and surrogacy.
