Dear colleagues,
On behalf of MEPs for Sexual and Reproductive Rights Secretariat (MEPs for SRR), we are sharing with you a short video featuring Members of the European Parliament Abir Al-Sahlani, Joanna Scheuring-Wielgus, Mélissa Camara, and Hanna Gedin raising concerns about the use of Erasmus+ funding for youth education programmes that promoted one-sided and biased materials on sexual and reproductive health.
After a media investigation reported that Erasmus+ funded World Youth Alliance (WYA) was misleading young people on sexual and reproductive rights, MEPs asked the European Commission if funding such programs could be at odds with EU Values. The European Education and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) looked into the three Erasmus+ funded projects led by the WYA.
Independent experts concluded that WYA’s educational programmes were scientifically unbalanced, promoting one-sided and biased materials on sexual and reproductive health, and in breach of EU values on equality and non-discrimination.
