EASTERN EUROPE – Latest Issue of the Astra Network Bulletin

Dear friends and colleagues,

We’re happy to share the latest issue of the ASTRA Network Bulletin, bringing together recent SRHR developments from across Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

This edition includes:

  • Moldova: Telemedicine medical abortion has returned to the national clinical protocol after sustained advocacy, although access is still limited.
  • Azerbaijan: A new mifepristone–misoprostol combi-pack has been launched, alongside training for healthcare providers on medical abortion, telemedicine and WHO recommendations.
  • Roma women’s rights: The first International MARA Forum created space for Roma women, activists, community doulas and researchers to share knowledge, strengthen leadership and advance reproductive justice.
  • Georgia: People living with HIV continue to face stigma, confidentiality concerns, limited reproductive autonomy and barriers to clear treatment information.
  • Romania: The national SRHR strategy remains blocked, while midwives continue to push for professional autonomy, service reimbursement and stronger recognition within the public healthcare system.

The bulletin also features updates on sexuality education, violence against women in politics, feminist heritage, masculinity and democracy, and recent ASTRA Network activities.

Please find the Bulletin here, and feel free to share it with your networks 💙

In solidarity,
