ZIMBABWE – Doctors back amendment of “outdated pregnancy” law

The Zimbabwe Association of Doctors for Human Rights (ZADHR) has thrown its full support behind proposed changes to the country’s abortion legislation, saying the Medical Services Amendment Bill represents a necessary and rights-based modernization of Zimbabwe’s reproductive health framework.

In a recent statement, the association said it supports Clause 11 of the bill, noting that the reform “aligns with Section 76 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe, which enshrines the right to healthcare,” and protects the constitutional rights to life, dignity and bodily integrity.
