Program Area 1: Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights Information, Services and Advocacy: Youth Take the Lead in Refugee Communities
Under the PROTECT SRHR Project funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, we’ve been busy supporting young people to speak up and take charge of their health and rights. On World Refugee Day (June 20th), we stood in solidarity with refugees in Imvepi, Terego District, providing banners and placards that amplified powerful messages of hope and resilience. We also kicked off peer educator training across six districts, and so far, 194 young champions have been equipped with skills to talk about issues like sexual health, gender-based violence, and teenage pregnancy. In places like Koboko, Terego, Nebbi, and Pakwach, the energy is growing, and we’re just getting started! We’ve also been listening, through focus groups and interviews, to create powerful, community-based messages that reflect real needs. These messages are now being crafted by our partners at Sauti Plus Media Hub and will soon be tested and translated so they truly speak to the hearts of the people. Together, we’re making SRHR education relatable, local, and youth-led.

How AMAZE Is Helping Gen Z Own Their Growth Story
For nearly 10 years, AMAZE has made growing up less awkward by creating fun, animated videos that answer the real questions young people have about puberty, sex, their bodies, and healthy relationships. With over 300 videos and 2,000 global adaptations in more than 70 languages, AMAZE is helping young people everywhere learn in a way that feels real and relatable. At Reach A Hand Uganda, we’re proud to partner with AMAZE to make sure young people both in and out of school, have access to the right information about their sexual and reproductive health. We’ve used these videos during school outreaches and community sessions, and they’ve made it easier (and more fun!) to talk about those “hard” topics that matter most.
