About this publication
This volume documents the proceedings of the conference: ‘The Emerging Challenges to Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) in Bangladesh’, organized by Bangladesh Health Watch (BHW) in honour of Adrienne Germain. This significant event, held in Dhaka on December 3, 2022, brought together distinguished national and international experts, policymakers, advocates, and practitioners to engage in meaningful discussions on critical SRHR issues. Key topics included maternal health, adolescent rights, climate change impacts, and the legal barriers affecting women’s access to essential care.
The publication is structured in two parts. The first section captures the key discussions, expert presentations, and recommendations from the conference. The second part offers a heartfelt tribute to Adrienne Germain, whose tireless efforts and lasting contributions to women’s health and rights have profoundly impacted Bangladesh and the global SRHR landscape.
By presenting the knowledge exchanged at the conference, BHW aims to provide a valuable resource for researchers, academics, policymakers, and professionals working in the field of SRHR. It also seeks to inspire and contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen sexual and reproductive health and rights in Bangladesh and beyond. For anyone committed to advancing SRHR and human development, this publication offers essential insights and forward-looking perspectives.
