You are warmly invited to this online event with exciting speakers on 28 May, 15:00 UTC, the International Day of Action for Women’s Health, on the urgent need to protect abortion rights defenders. Speakers include experts, health workers and activists from Colombia, Ethiopia, India, USA and Europe. They will discuss the challenges facing abortion rights defenders, what states need to do to support them, and how civil society needs to mobilize. The discussion will start with a brief presentation about Amnesty’s Key Principles and Actions for safeguarding abortion providers as human rights defenders, a set of recommendations published by Amnesty International with support from partner organizations that work on sexual and reproductive health and rights, stemming from their report An unstoppable movement, which is part of our abortion rights campaign.
