SEXUAL RIGHTS INITIATIVE et al: Panel on Unsafe Abortion and Maternal Mortality and Morbidity: What can be done to prevent it?

The Sexual Rights Initiative, together with the Permanent Missions of Norway and Slovenia, the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the World Health Organization, the International Initiative on Maternal Mortality and Human Rights, and Ipas, held an event during the 30th session of the UN Human Rights Council entitled, ‘Unsafe Abortion and Maternal Mortality and Morbidity: What can be done to prevent it?’ on Tuesday, 29 September 2015 in the Palais des Nations, Geneva, Switzerland

The panel emphasised addressing the importance of unsafe abortion in order to eliminate preventable maternal mortality and morbidity, identify the human rights dimensions of unsafe abortion, and elaborate States’ obligations with respect to addressing unsafe abortion.
