Three weeks ago, on March 8, we opened the first abortion clinic in Poland – ABOTAK. We gave women a sense of security and normal access to abortion. Every day we receive expressions of gratitude and requests for help, for which we thank you with all our hearts.
Unfortunately, from the very beginning we have also been facing the terror of a group of fanatics who are trying to take this space away from us at all costs. They shout, they use vuvuzelas held to the ears of passers-by, they play sounds from loudspeakers that exceed all noise standards, they intimidate us and our neighbours.
- The noise level exceeds all acceptable standards – our meters show up to 120 decibels – as much as a jackhammer produces.
- Every day we witness scenes where elderly people are afraid to leave their homes because of howling sirens, parents beg for silence because they are putting their children to sleep, and people working remotely are unable to function.
- These demonstrations are taking place on non-working days. They have already received permission from the city to harass the residents of Wiejska 9 and us again for three consecutive weekends in a row , taking away the residents’ right to peace. Meanwhile, the city has not even sent an observer to the site to assess the situation with their own eyes — instead, we receive official letters and no decisive reaction.
A few days ago they went even further and someone poured concentrated butyric acid on the entrance to the premises. It is not only a disgusting smell, but also a health hazard. Our neighbours have been airing out their apartments for a week, we have suffered financial losses, and on top of that the sidewalk in front of the premises is still covered in traces of paint from the opening. Of course, the cost of cleaning up or disposing of the butyric acid will be covered by taxpayers, rather than the authorities who allow it.
? Are we really waiting for someone to get hurt?
? Will the city of Warsaw and the Polish police start to respond adequately to the threat?
? Will the KO candidate for president, who promised to legalize abortion in his campaign, be able to respond to the harassment of us and the residents of Wiejska 9?
Let’s not allow evil to win and the state to stand by passively! Help us publicize the attacks and force the authorities to react!
