MIDDLE EAST AND NORTH AFRICA – RAWSA MENA Network offers training and seeks researchers

Capacity building training sessions offered for 20 safe abortion advocates

The RAWSA MENA Network is launching a training programme for activists involved in defending the right to safe abortion in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. The objective of the training cycle is to strengthen the capacities of 20 participants to build strong advocacy campaigns in their countries. They will be trained by regional and international experts on issues of advocacy, communication, clarification of values for attitude change on abortion and on the means to bring abortion out of illegality.

The training sessions will take place during the months of October and November 2021. There will be four sessions online, which will last around four hours on a Friday afternoon.

We are looking for motivated activists, journalists and health professionals from the MENA region countries to be part of the training. If you are interested, please apply!

RAWSA MENA Network seeks two students to develop a research project on safe abortion in the MENA region

Because of the sensitivity surrounding the subject of safe abortion in the MENA region, there is a lack of data and research on this topic. However, information is more than a necessity in order to build strong advocacy campaigns to ensure women’s rights.

We are looking for two motivated, MA-level students to carry out research on safe abortion in the MENA region. The priority subject area is the right to safe abortion and the barriers to access safe abortion.

The students will receive a grant of US$1500 as financial support to conduct the research. They should come from countries in the MENA region and will work in one or more countries in the region.

To apply, send your proposal and your CV to rawsamena@gmail.com with the subject RAWSA: Student research before 15 October 2021. For full details, go to the rawsanetwork on Facebook.
