The world is seeing a resurgence of religious extremism at national, regional, and global levels, which renews the threat to many of the rights that should be achieved and concretised, such as equality of women, of citizens who belong to ethnic and religious minorities, and of sexual minorities. This report tackles the issues and challenges pertaining to the politicisation of religion and ethno-religious nationalism, and the diverse responses globally seeking to counter these. It explores the current landscape of the intersections of the politicisation of religion and sexual and reproductive health and rights with case studies from Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Morocco, Myanmar, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Tonga, as well as Latin America and the Caribbean.
