FOUR FACES OF CONTEMPORARY ANTI-ABORTION MOVEMENTS: CROATIA, LATIN AMERICA, MOLDOVA, USA

The combination of anti-abortion views, religious fanaticism, populism and right-wing politics is a dangerous cocktail. But that is what has been emerging in recent years as the underpinnings of contemporary anti-abortion movements in different parts of the world, with the added danger that they are connecting internationally. MOLDOVA – Reproductive Health Training Center (RHTC) telemedicine service

In partnership with the Safe Abortion Action Fund and supported by Options Canada, RHTC has set up a telemedicine abortion service in Moldova. For the past year, they have been preparing, obtaining pills and developing materials, particularly videos, for patients. The programme was ready to launch when the Covid-19 crisis hit. EASTERN EUROPE / CENTRAL ASIA – Regional Conference on Bringing the WHO Recommendations on Safe Abortion and Family Planning Closer to Women in Countries of Eastern Europe and Central Asia

There were 65 participants. The meeting was in Russian with simultaneous translation in English. Participants included health professionals, health policymakers and NGO representatives from 11 counties in the region – Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, and Russia.
