The article goes state by state, looking in detail at the cost in January 2017 of both medical abortion and surgical (aspiration) abortion in public, private and non-profit clinics. The findings were obtained from the Tabbot Foundation, several NGOs active around abortion, published articles, web-based news sites and government websites.
It is a cogent lesson in the costs and consequences of depending on private abortion clinics, including non-profit clinics, as compared to services provided in the public health system, which may in turn provide totally inadequate coverage to meet need.
