The Sri Lanka College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (SLCOG) is spearheading a campaign to decriminalise abortion for three indications: severe congenital abnormalities in the fetus incompatible with life up to 22 weeks of pregnancy, and pregnancy resulting from rape and incest up to 20 weeks.

A governor in Papua New Guinea, Powes Parkop, has called for public deabte on abortion law reform in the country. Parkop said that the current law is forcing abortion underground, endangering the lives of women.
