Viol, inceste et grossesses non désirées : Des associations de femmes plaident pour l’avortement médicalisé (Unwanted pregnancy after rape and incest: women’s associations plead for safe abortion)

(Legalisation of abortion in cases of rape and incest has long been called for by civil society organisations in Senegal because it would free women from a forced pregnancy without risk.)

“This victory on abortion has empowered Polish women – we’ll never be the same.” (Krystyna Kacpura, 6 October 2016)

Our congratulations to the women of Poland for the brilliant decision to call a national strike on 3 October, in which between 30,000 and 100,000 people, according to different reports, took to the streets to protest the threatened ban on abortion: the government couldn’t ignore you any longer.

Constitutional Court judgement that changed the abortion law: celebrating the 10th anniversary

May 2016 is for us a month full of symbolism. It was ten years ago when the history of abortion in Colombia changed forever. The Constitutional Court recognized abortion as a fundamental right of all Colombian women on three grounds: when the pregnancy poses a risk to life or health of the woman, when there is severe fetal malformation and when the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest. Thanks to this ruling, abortion is for all Colombians a fundamental right.
