This collection of resources on access to legal abortion is a contribution to the strengthening of technical capacity in the field of litigation and the construction of advocacy arguments to have political impact. These multimedia resources are accessible to those at national and international level with some background in the law and jurisprudence on the subject of access to safe and legal abortion.
After the Tucumán criminal court refused to release Belén, who suffered a miscarriage but was sentenced to eight years in prison having already been detained awaiting trial for two years and two months, her case was taken up in a public hearing convened by the Commission on Human Rights and Guarantees of the Chamber of Deputies of Argentina. The hearing was entitled: “The role of the State in relation to violence against women: torture and other ill-treatment in the field of sexual and reproductive health”.
More than 300 feminists, women’s rights and abortion rights groups held demonstrations in Buenos Aires and Tucuman to demand the release of a woman, who was sentenced to eight years in prison for “aggravated homicide” last week.
We have created a series of videos to promote discussion on the right to abortion.
