Of 1,015 men and women who completed an anonymous online survey, 76% were unaware that abortion remains a criminal offence in the Crimes Act 1900 (New South Wales) and 73% thought it should be decriminalised and regulated as a healthcare service. Support for decriminalisation was consistent across genders, age groups, urban/rural residents and level of education. 89% supported women seeking abortion to be protected from harassment and 81% supported protester exclusion zones around clinics.
