Right and Access for Women to Safe Abortion in the Middle East & North Africa Region – Meeting Report

On the 15-16 April 2019, the Groupe Tawhida Ben Cheikh, Tunisia, with funding from the International Campaign for Women’s Right to Safe Abortion and the Safe Abortion Action Fund, brought together 17 NGO representatives from eight countries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region to discuss regional advocacy strategy on safe abortion and capacity building.

Updates to the mifepristone-misoprostol combi-pack listing include:  Mifepristone-misoprostol have been moved from the Complementary List to the Core Model List of Essential Medicines.  An asterisk has been removed that stated that close medical supervision is required for administration of mifepristone-misoprostol for medical abortion. CÔTE D’IVOIRE – AIBEF director pleads for legalisation of abortion without exception to prevent high mortality rate
